1) MS CNO ADM ARLEIGH BURKE speaking from podium to distinguished crowd; SECNAV CONNALLY sits off to left on stage listening to the ADM"s speech; ADM concludes his speech, guests arise as does SECNAV CONNALLY; officers come to the salute on stage; guests looking off to left; it is apparent that ADM BURKE"s flag is being hauled down; this means the end of his service as CNO during the Change of Command of which he is relieved by ADM GEORGE W. ANDERSON. G2) MS ADM BURKE leaving podium, walking back to his chair; SECNAV CONNALLY seats himself, ADM BURKE seats himself, as does the crowd; ADM GEO. W. ANDERSON steps up to podium with unidentified officer; ADM raises his right hand as does the other officer; ADM is sworn in as the new CNO; SECNAV looking on; many of the photographers flash their flash bulbs during this period of the ceremony taking pictures of the event; swearing in over with, the ADM shakes hands with the officer; officer leaves area to left, ADM stands facing the crowd at the podium, to deliver a speech to the crowd and to read his orders as the new CNO; ADM finishes speech, turns around, faces ADM BURKE and salutes ADM BURKE; ADM BURKE arises, salutes the ADM, then seats himself again; ADM ANDERSON then turns around, faces SECNAV CONNALLY; officers and guests on the stage arise, face off to left as ADMs come to the salute; it is thought at this point that ADM ANDERSON"s flag is broken, which means that he is new CNO. G3) MS Looking out over heads of the crowd; ADM BURKE speaking with an unidentified officer among the crowd in the large hall; civilian and military photographers gather around ADM BURKE; photographers disperse; ADM leaves scene to the left; crowd arises in fg after the high-ranking officers have departed; distinguished ADM seen amongst the crowd, ADM PIRIE. G-F (bg very dark)4) MLS Looking out over heads of the crowd dispersing from the hall; stage is in the bg, empty at this time as the ceremony is completed. F (lighting is quite bad)5) HA MS Distinguished crowd dispersing, leaving the hall. F

Arleigh Albert Burke, U.S. Naval Officer, was born near Boulder, Colorado on 19 October, 1901. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1923 and served in the Navy until his retirement in 1961.
